RETURNS, REFUNDS & WARRANTY POLICY

Last updated: 12 October 2026

At Autovexx, we are committed to supplying quality products and providing fair customer service.

This Returns, Refunds & Warranty Policy applies to portable air compressors, tyre inflators, and related accessories purchased through our online store.

Our policy is governed by the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), and other applicable South African legislation.

1. Seven-Day Cooling-Off Period

In accordance with Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, customers who purchase products online generally have the right to cancel their purchase within 7 calendar days of receiving the product, without providing a reason.

To exercise this right, customers must notify Autovexx in writing within the prescribed period.

  • Customers are responsible for the direct cost of returning the product.

  • Products must be returned safely and securely packaged.

  • We request that customers return all original accessories, manuals, and packaging where reasonably possible.

  • Autovexx may inspect returned products to document their condition and verify that the returned item corresponds with the original order.

  • A refund will be processed within 30 days of the valid cancellation, as required by law.

No cancellation penalty, restocking fee, or unauthorised deduction will be imposed for a valid statutory cooling-off cancellation.

2. Returns for Defective or Faulty Products

Under Sections 55 and 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, customers are protected by a statutory six-month implied warranty of quality.

If a portable air compressor is found to be defective, unsafe, or not of acceptable quality under the CPA within six months of delivery, the customer may exercise their statutory rights.

Where applicable, the customer may choose to:

  • Receive a repair;

  • Receive a replacement; or

  • Receive a refund of the purchase price.

Valid statutory defective-product returns will be handled at Autovexx's risk and expense, including reasonable return transport arrangements.

Autovexx reserves the right to conduct a reasonable technical inspection to determine the nature and cause of the reported fault. Such inspection will not be used to delay or deny any valid statutory remedy.

If a product is repaired and the original defect is not remedied, or another defect arises within three months of the repair, the customer will be entitled to a replacement or refund as provided by Section 56(3) of the CPA.

3. Product Misuse, Negligence and Damage

Our warranty does not cover damage caused by improper use, negligence, unauthorised modifications, or circumstances unrelated to a product defect, to the extent permitted by law.

Examples include:

  • Using the compressor with an incompatible power source or incorrect voltage.

  • Operating the compressor beyond its specified duty cycle or recommended operating limits.

  • Damage caused by water exposure, impact, crushing, or improper storage.

  • Tampering with internal components or unauthorised repairs that cause damage or malfunction.

  • Using the compressor for applications outside its advertised or specified capabilities.

  • Damage resulting from failure to follow supplied operating and safety instructions.

Normal wear and tear, where it does not constitute a defect under applicable law, is not covered.

Evidence of use, wear, or modification does not automatically invalidate statutory consumer rights. Warranty claims will be assessed according to the actual cause of the problem and applicable legislation.

4. Change-of-Mind Returns After Seven Days

Once the statutory seven-day cooling-off period has expired, Autovexx does not offer voluntary change-of-mind returns or exchanges.

This includes situations where:

  • The customer no longer wants the product.

  • The customer has purchased a similar product elsewhere.

  • The customer ordered the product without checking its published specifications.

  • The customer expected features or capabilities that were not advertised or represented by Autovexx.

This restriction does not apply where the customer has a statutory right to return goods, including defective, incorrectly supplied, or misrepresented products.

5. Incorrect, Damaged or Incomplete Orders

Customers are encouraged to inspect their orders promptly upon delivery.

If an item arrives damaged, incorrect, or with missing components, please contact Autovexx as soon as reasonably possible.

We recommend submitting:

  • Your order number.

  • Photographs of the product and packaging.

  • A description of the issue.

  • Photographs of any visible damage or missing accessories.

These details assist Autovexx in investigating the issue with our suppliers and delivery partners.

Failure to provide photographs or report an issue immediately will not automatically invalidate rights provided under South African law.

Where an incorrect, damaged, incomplete, or defective order qualifies for a statutory remedy, Autovexx will provide the applicable remedy and cover return costs where required by law.

6. Return Authorisation and Inspection

Before returning a product, customers should contact Autovexx customer support to arrange the appropriate return procedure.

Customers may be asked to provide their order number, proof of purchase, a description of the issue, and relevant photographs or videos.

All returned products may undergo a reasonable inspection to:

  • Verify the product and order details.

  • Confirm the reported issue.

  • Identify any external or accidental damage.

  • Determine whether the product has been operated outside its specified limits.

  • Establish whether a statutory remedy is applicable.

Where inspection establishes that the product is functioning correctly and no statutory return right applies, Autovexx may decline a voluntary return.

For non-statutory returns or unsupported claims, reasonable return transport or inspection charges may apply only where lawfully permitted and clearly agreed to in advance.

No inspection charge or return fee will be imposed where doing so would infringe a customer's statutory rights.

7. Refund Processing

Approved refunds will be issued using the original payment method wherever reasonably possible, or another mutually agreed secure method.

Refunds will be processed within the period required by applicable law.

For valid cancellations under Section 44 of ECTA, refunds will be made within 30 days of cancellation.

For other statutory refunds, Autovexx will process payment within the applicable legal timeframe and without unreasonable delay.

Autovexx reserves the right to verify order details and payment information to prevent fraud and ensure refunds are issued to the correct customer.

8. Delivery and Return Shipping

For valid seven-day cooling-off cancellations, customers are responsible only for the direct cost of returning the goods, as permitted by ECTA.

For qualifying defective-product returns under Section 56 of the CPA, Autovexx is responsible for the return at its risk and expense.

For voluntary returns accepted outside statutory requirements, any agreed shipping arrangements will be communicated to the customer in advance.

Customers must package returned products appropriately to minimise the risk of damage during transportation.

9. Product Specifications and Safe Operation

Customers should carefully review the product specifications and operating instructions before using the portable air compressor.

Autovexx products must be operated within the voltage, pressure, duty-cycle, and other limits specified in the product description or supplied instructions.

Customers should not leave the compressor unattended while operating and should follow all applicable safety precautions.

The compressor must not be used for purposes beyond its stated design or advertised capabilities.

Nothing in this section excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Autovexx will not be responsible for losses or damage directly resulting from proven misuse, negligent operation, unauthorised alterations, or use contrary to clear product safety instructions, where such losses or damage are not attributable to a defect or unlawful conduct by Autovexx.

Nothing in this policy limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable liability for unsafe or defective products under Section 61 of the Consumer Protection Act.

11. Fraudulent or Abusive Return Claims

Autovexx reserves the right to investigate suspected fraudulent return requests, including:

  • Returning a different product from the one originally supplied.

  • Deliberately damaging a product and falsely claiming a manufacturing defect.

  • Submitting falsified purchase documentation.

  • Making knowingly false statements regarding the product's condition or use.

Where there is reasonable evidence of fraud, Autovexx may decline claims that are not legally valid and pursue lawful remedies where appropriate.

Genuine consumer complaints and lawful warranty claims will not be treated as fraudulent merely because a claim is disputed.

12. Consumer Rights

This policy is intended to comply with South African consumer protection legislation.

Nothing in this policy is intended to waive, restrict, or override any non-excludable statutory consumer right.

Where any provision conflicts with applicable South African law, the relevant legislation will take precedence.
